Max Wagner is a Chicago-born, Los Angeles-based freelance guitarist, bassist, banjoist, and mandolinist. Max is in demand as a sideman, studio player, and theater pit musician. His extensive theater credits most recently include After Hours Theatre Company’s Ovation Award-nominated  Dogfight; tick, tick…BOOM!; and I Love You Because as well as Celebration Theatre’s The View Upstairs and the multiple Ovation Award-winning The Boy From Oz. He’s also the guitarist for the award-winning John Burroughs High School show choir pro combo.

As a sideman, Max has played venues throughout the LA/Orange County area, including Hotel Café, Bar Lubitsch, and the Troubadour. He’s shared the stage with singer-songwriters, cabaret singers, and rock bands, always bringing his trademark attention to detail and infectious smile to the stage. Some of Max’s favorite live collaborators are NYC-based songwriters Selda Sahin and Derek Gregor; electro-rock band Anabot; and Broadway stars Lindsay Mendez and Emma Hunton.

In the studio, Max has played on dozens of sessions, working with Grammy-winning, legendary producer Glen Ballard, Alexander Hall/Oliver Heimach Productions (BEATLES EP), and producer/arranger Elmo Zapp.

Other LA theater credits:

Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris (Odyssey Theatre Ensemble)

A Walk To Remember: The Musical (Prospect Theatre)

Cruel Intentions The Musical (Prospect Theatre)

American Idiot (glory/struck productions)
