Rounding out a fantastic year in style, with a couple of recording sessions next week. The first is an all-acoustic session for Into Light: A Musical Short Film. Looking forward to working with Music Director Anthony Lucca again (Mutt House, Jacques Brel…) on this one. The music is gorgeous, and simply features acoustic guitar, piano, and a string quartet. The other session is a bit of pre-production recording for John Burroughs High School’s Pop Show 40. Always love getting to play/hangout with that crew.
And speaking of recording, Oliver Heimach’s latest single “Golden Hour” came out last month and has amassed nearly 20,000 streams on Spotify alone! Thrilled to have my playing featured on this track and am really happy with what I played :) It’s a Bee Gees-inspired tune with tons of wah-wah and fun, funky guitar parts. Stay tuned for Oliver’s next single, “For Your Consideration” (featuring yours truly as well), coming out early next year.
This week features my last scheduled live performances of the year as well. I’ll be re-teaming with Trent Mills for another Broadway Sings Disney at the Rockwell Table and Stage in Los Feliz. Trent and I like to spice things up when we do these cabarets, and this week is no different. No spoilers, but it’s gonna be another fun, crazy one. And I couldn’t get out of the season without doing at least one Christmas performance. This one is super casual, in Jen Oundjian’s kitchen, but it’ll be with two of my absolute favorite musicians, Rod Castro and Dan Scoville, playing Christams tunes.
Last week at LACHSA for Once On This Island was a blast as well. The students and staff there are all top-notch, and combined with a kick-ass band, we put on a weekend of great shows. Speaking of that show, Everjohn Feliciano, Kyra Selman, and I (under the direction of Jenna Townsend) quietly put out a cover of “Forever Yours” back in October. So quietly, in fact, that I just found out the full version was out. Check out the video on YouTube or embedded below. Happy Holidays and see you all in the New Year!!
